This is a digital print poster of Goddess Mother Tara who is the second of the ten mahavidyas in Hindu tantra tradition.
Vintage. Indian religious chromolithograph style of the late 1800s. This digital print is a modern print.Iconography: Goddess Tara is worshiped and revered in both Hinduism and Buddhism. Her name is derived from the word 'Taarna' which means deliverance, as she delivers her devotees from troubles and on a deeper spiritual level, also from the materialistic world, thereby leading towards moksha. The scissors in hers are symbolic of the worldly ties which she cuts. Her swords cut away the negative qualities which hold back a person from attaining enlightenment e.g. greed, fear, ego, residual karma etc. The skull garland represent the alphabet, which means that she grants unlimited knowledge to her worshippers. She is blue in color, like the sky, which symbolizes her infinite nature. Her large belly symbolizes that she is the mother of the entire creation and gives birth to it. She is more approachable than Goddess Kali due to her maternal instincts.
